The objectives and the scope is slated to widen as well as deepen in future in tune with improvements brought out in the larger system of development planning, especially in plan formulation and implementation. Two areas of extension already identified are related to Local Self-Governments and Department Level Project Management Mechanism. Monitoring of Local Self-Government Plans would be brought into the state level mechanism as an additional module or by providing appropriate link to the existing database on local level development plans. Another module suggested is to help departments for better management and implementation of their plan projects. This is visualized as a department level state of the art ICT enabled project management system.

The plan monitoring mechanism intends to introduce new services. One such additional feature would be the facility to send periodic reminders and alerts to heads of departments and such other identified officers.
